Career Assessments

Career counseling is typically done on the basis of any or all of the following:

  • school achievement
  • client interest
  • job availability, and
  • work experience

SOI offers another perspective - learning abilities.

Counseling On The Basis of Learning Abilities

SOI career counseling is based on results of SOI testing.  The SOI test produces a profile of learning abilities to be compared with profile requirements for a wide variety of jobs.  It produces a picture of how well your potential is suited to the job.  This is not a qualification or selection test.  The purpose of the comparison is to show you where your potential might be used in the 'world of work'.

What your SOI Career Test Scores Mean:

The following are examples of recommendations made based on scores in specific intellectual areas.

High MFU score - You remember incidental information when not specifically concentrating on it.  Consider flying, navigation, printing and layout, nursing, medical lab work, and detailed work.

Low CFU score - You may be unable to sustain reading related activities requiring visual focusing.  You may have undue visual strain and find it difficult to coordinate small objects and visual details.  Consider avoiding graphic design, piloting, photography, dentistry and data entry.

High CFT score - You can comprehend spatial systems easily.  You have a good sense of direction and do not tend to get lost.  Consider technology, electronics, science, math, and design.
